Bully, "Lost Angeles'94"

A second year module titled 'Textile development and product realisation', required collaboration between Fashion Design students and Fashion Buying students at the University of Westminster. The motivation behind the project was to create a S/S 2012 collection for ASOS Marketplace.

Our primary inspiration looked at the current trend of Vintage Americana and the subtle micro-trend of Las Vegas- first discovered in a Fashion Editorial within a February'12 French Vogue.

From these influences we sourced images of American landscape and the West Coast and discovered an appeal in Los Angeles. We have carried this theme throughout the collection, focusing on the degenerate youth culture and gang society, a less glamorous take than that seen in collections later seen to be contained in Reiss and H&M.

The colour palette of the collection features white on white - creating a strong chic contrast against the mainly slouch fit, street inspired silhouettes - whilst flashes of neon introduce a creative USP and strong brand identity.

Our brand name is 'Bully', inspired by the Larry Clark cult film and the collection "Lost Angeles'94", due to the image of lost youth and the date that influenced silhouettes.

For the photoshoot, our photographer, Kristof General (http://kristofgeneral.daportfolio.com/), creatively utilised local surroundings to evoke an appearance of Los Angeles landscape without detracting from our 'made in Kenton' identity.

Alongside the collection, videographer, Charlie Sarsfield, created a promotional video that filmed behind the scenes of the photoshoot.

My role within the group was focused on promotion; I managed the Twitter account, organised a promotional event at the University, uploaded blog posts onto the ASOS Marketplace blog and created and updated the brands blog;
